What a Book Can Do for You!
What Being in Author Could Do for You!
When you become an author you instantly gained several advantages to help you promote your practice. I’m not talking about “best seller” or being the next Tom Peters or John Grisham. I’m talking about becoming an author for one purpose and one purpose only that is boosting sales and income.
A Book Gives You Credibility
People ever written books are perceived as experts. Prospects see your name and face on a book cover and in our culture, you are viewed as credible and as an authority figure. Plain and simple, the more credible you are the more sales you will make. Why? Because people will trust you more.
Let’s say a magazine that your prospects read all the time has an opening for a regular column on your topic. They put the word out that they are looking for possible people to write that column. You think it would be great exposure; and you would be right
They receive several submissions but you submit your proposal all along with a copy of your book on the same topic. Now who would you think will be invited to write a column? Of course, the author will get the gig.
Jean Ann Dorrell is a financial advisor to seniors in Florida. Her market is crowded with competitors. Her book “Protect Yourself; Everything Seniors Need to Know to Avoid Being Taken Financially” gives her a very unique and credible position in her marketplace.
A Book Gives You FREE Advertising
Despite popular opinion to the opposite radio stations, TV shows, magazines, newspapers are looking to give you free publicity. They start every day with an empty page and. They want to give you exposure.
The value of this seems obvious but when you are visible and people see you on TV or hear you on the radio, it helps your business. A book has given me over $5 million of free advertising.
Anita Jackson has been featured on local and national radio and TV because of her book. She uses the book to gain publicity for her coaching program.
A Book Helps You Differentiate Yourself from the Competition
There are thousands of people who offer what you offer. Why should they buy from you? Competition is stiff today!
Imagine this, a real estate agent is making a presentation to the owners of a nice house worth over $2 million. Of course, they will likely interview several agents before granting the listing to one of them. Before leaving our imaginary agent says something like this “Mr. Jones, I know and fully expect you will speak with several agents before making this important decision. Cannot ask you to do just one thing before making that decision? What you’ll need one of the chapters in my book entitled how to find a real estate agent you can trust”, then he autographs a copy of his book for the homeowner. What is just happened to his competition? Obliterated!
Real estate Yogen Dhanik uses a book to differentiate himself in the tough and crowded real estate market of San Francisco.
A Book Helps You Get Referrals
One dead as we know offers his book “The Winning Smile” to his existing patients. He tells them to give a free copy of this book to their friends. In the book itself which he autographs in advance, he offers a free first visit for friends of existing patients. He’s busier than ever before.
Dentist Dr. Anil Agarwal of Chicago uses a book to explode his referral practice in his practice.
A Book Helps You Recruit
Dave O, author of the book “The Millionaire Genius” uses his book to build instant rapport for his direct sales organization. He needs to recruit thousands of agents and his book pre sells him to prospects and gets the whole sales force motivated to introduce him to their friends and prospects.
Major Mohan has tens of thousands of people in his sales organization. They all use his book to recruit and get the word out about his company.
Doctor, Your Medicine Is Killing Me! was written by health and wellness coach Pete Coussa to give him the platform he needed to teach his philosophy of wellbeing.
A Book Opens Doors
Christian Warren wanted to meet CEOs of large enterprises to offer his unique high and Internet architectural services. The problem is that CEOs always referred him down to the IT department. He knew that they Union Bay and approve sales, they would need to sell the CEO eventually, why not bypass all that?
But how could he get in? Well, he writes a book entitled “Running with the Rhinos” a book on leadership. It’s a topic of great interest to his target audience. Now, before making a sales call to the CEO he sends them a copy of this book along with an autographed which includes the following…
Dear Mr. CEO
My mentor told me that I should give my book to the hundred most positive people in this city, I hear you’re one of them. Enjoy the book!
Yours truly,
Christian Warren
The Einstein Complex is being used by Dr. Roger Boger to help him create multiple sources of income.
A Book Attracts Prospects
Instead of cold calling or any other outdated rejection based strategy, why not make the people who are likely to buy your product or service, come directly to you?
How? Do what Rozieta Shaary did. Every week she would advertise her practice with an ad that cost or $1500. She would typically receive 15 to 20 calls every time that ad ran she thought she could do better. After attending our seminar, I I showed her how to write a book and offer it for free in that. The result? She consistently gets 500 phone calls at every three days from the same $1500 ad.
Rozieta Shaary uses her book to boost advertising response.
If you want to become a magnet to prospects… Write out Book!
If you want to boost your income… Write a Book!
If you want to explode your referrals… Write a Book!
If you want to gain celebrity status… Write a Book!
If you want to make your advertising pull a lot more… Write a Book!
If you want to get tons of FREE publicity… Write a Book!

A Day At The Races
The allure and the excitement of the race track….
I wanted to find out once and for all what separates the winners from the losers at the race track?
When asking avid horse betters, “What does it take to pick a winner here at the track?” most answered “skill.” When asking, “What finally makes you lay your money down?” most answer, “guts.”
If you go to the track on any given day, you will see hordes of people enjoying a day at the races; making bets and yelling their hearts out in hopes that their “pick” will be the first to the finish line.
If one looks closer you will see another kind of better; a handicapper. A handicapper stands out in the track crowd. The handicapper has come to the track prepared to win. Between races, you won’t see them getting up for food or drink. Their faces are buried deep into the horse better’s bible; “The Daily Racing Form”. A true horse handicapper derives much of their skill for picking winners from studying “The Daily Racing Form”.
The Daily Racing Form is the only daily publication that is strictly geared to the horse racer. The Daily Racing Form has been around since 1894. Its headquarters are in Chicago, Illinois. The first publication printed on November 17,1894 was only four pages long. It was and remains today the number one “America’s Turf Authority” publication. Over 112 years later, the Daily Racing Form has evolved into a complex newspaper which publishes all the needed statistics for handicap races across the United States, along with insightful editorials on the world of racing. The paper publishes daily with the exception of Christmas day.
When polling several handicappers on what kind of race they prefer to bet on, all agreed: “a stakes race.”
Stakes races occur annually, like the Kentucky Derby or Belmont Stakes. These races carry large purses, so they ultimately attract the cream of the crop in horses, jockeys, and trainers. As one handicapper told me, “There are fewer surprises…the talent is there…ripe for the picking.”
Other forms of races include claiming races. Claiming races are the most common types of races at the local track. In a claiming race, every horse on the field is up for sale. A price is pre-established by the owner(s) before the race begins. A horse may be claimed for its entered price by any other licensed horse owner. This transaction is done through a racing secretary. Once the race is over and a horse has been “claimed”, the ownership of the horse is then transferred to its new owners. A claiming race evens the running field, as an owner would not enter a horse that is worth a greater value where the horse could be claimed at low value.
When handicapping a claiming race, I was told it is important to review past performance, jockey, and track condition. Does the horse prefer a dry track verses wet? Has the jockey been doing well with the horse?
Another type of race is the maiden race. This is the handicappers least favorite. A maiden race is made up of horses that have never before won a race.
Last but not least is the allowance race. The allowance race is where the Track Handicapped (Track Secretary) sets the conditions and the type of horses that can be entered into the race.
The handicappers I had the pleasure of spending the day with strongly advise: “Collect information, rely heavily on the performance of a horse, get to know the better jocks and trainers, and always refer to the Daily Racing Form. Oh yeah, and have the guts to put your money on the nose.”
Sharon Stajda loves the thrill of a day at the races. For more information on horse racing, visit Horse Racing or Fundamentals Of Handicapping.
Renegade: The Making of a President by Richard Wolffe Review
Before the White House and Air Force One, before the TV ads and the enormous rallies, there was the real Barack Obama: a man wrestling with the momentous decision to run for the presidency, feeling torn about leaving behind a young family, and figuring out how to win the biggest prize in politics.
This book is the previously untold and epic story of how a political newcomer with no money and an alien name grew into the world’s most powerful leader. But it is also a uniquely intimate portrait of the person behind the iconic posters and the Secret Service code name Renegade.
Drawing on a dozen unplugged interviews with the candidate and president, as well as twenty-one months covering his campaign as it traveled from coast to coast, Richard Wolffe answers the simple yet
enduring question about Barack Obama: Who is he?
Based on Wolffe’s unprecedented access to Obama, Renegade reveals the making of a president, both on the campaign trail and before he ran for high office. It explains how the politician who emerged in an extraordinary election learned the personal and political skills to succeed during his youth and early career. With cool self-discipline, calculated risk taking, and simple storytelling, Obama developed the strategies he would need to survive the onslaught of the Clintons and John McCain, and build a
multimillion-dollar machine to win a historic contest.
In Renegade, Richard Wolffe shares with us his front-row seat at Obama’s announcement to run for president on a frigid day in Springfield, and his victory speech on a warm night in Chicago. We fly on the candidate’s plane and ride in his bus on an odyssey across a country in crisis; stand next to him at a bar on the night he secures the nomination; and are backstage as he delivers his
convention speech to a stadium crowd and a transfixed national audience. From a teacher’s office in Iowa to the Oval Office in Washington, we see and hear Barack Obama with an immediacy and honesty never witnessed before.
Renegade provides not only an account of Obama’s triumphs, but also examines his many personal and political trials. We see Obama wrestling with race and politics, as well as his former pastor Reverend Jeremiah Wright. We see him struggling with life as a presidential candidate, a campaign that falters for most of its first year, and his reaction to a surprise defeat in the New Hampshire primary. And we see him relying on his personal experience, as
well as meticulous polling, to pass the presidential test in foreign and economic affairs.
Renegade is an essential guide to understanding President Barack Obama and his trusted inner circle of aides and friends. It is
also a riveting and enlightening first draft of history and political psychology.

Pistons Tickets – the Best Way to Support Your Team is by Being There
2008 season has begun and Pistons tickets are selling like hotcakes. Detroit Pistons was a team to be reckoned with as they did well in the 2006-2007 season. In the 2007-2008 season fans are looking forward for the Pistons to win another NBA championship.
A Team With A Winning Streak
Pistons are a great basketball team and that is proven by their winning record. So far, they have won three NBA championships, nine division titles, and five conference titles. They are part of the Eastern Conference of the Central Division. Red, white and blue are their colors. Chuck Daly, Isiah Thomas, and Bill Laimbeer have been some of the most prominent players for the Pistons.
The Detroit Pistons was founded by Fred Zollner in 1940. It was then known as the Fort Wayne Zollner Pistons. In 1941, the Pistons joined the National Basketball League. In 1944, they won their first NBL championship and won their second one the following year. In 1949, the Pistons became part of the newly formed NBA.
Pistons have always been a favorite with NBA fans. This is amply clear from the fact that Pistons tickets have always got sold out. They have had so many fans because the team plays damn good. First five years with the NBA saw the Pistons qualify for the playoffs each year. In 1955 and 1956, the Pistons managed to reach the NBA finals.
The 1954-1955 team had great players like, guard Andy Phillip, forward George Yardley, and center Larry Foust. In 1957, Pistons moved to Detroit and acquired their present name, Detroit Pistons. From 1957 to 1964, the team qualified for the playoffs each year. The demand for Pistons tickets skyrocketed in this period. The team had a great line up during this period. They had guard Gene Shue, forward Bailey Howell, and forward Dave DeBusschere.
The Bad Boys
In the 1980s, the team earned the nickname- Bad Boys. They earned this nickname due to their physical and bruising defense under coach Chuck Daly.
NBA Championships
Palace of Auburn Hills became the new home ground for the Pistons before the start of the 1988-1989 season. They also acquired forward Mark Aguirre the same year. That season proved lucky for the Pistons and for the fans who had bought Pistons tickets because Detroit Pistons made it to the NBA Finals and defeated the Lakers to lift the championship. Then again in 1990, the Pistons satisfied their fans by winning the NBA championship after defeating the Portland Trail Blazers. They won their third NBA championship in 2004 after defeating the Lakers.
In the 2006-2007 season, they won the Central Division title and managed to get to the Finals of Eastern Conference. The team has signed up Rodney Stuckey and Arron Affalo for the 2007-2008 season. The team will be playing against Chicago Bulls, Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, and Dallas Mavericks in the coming days.
One of the best ways to shop for Pistons tickets is through an online ticket broker. The process is really easy and very convenient. No need to stand in long lines. Just order your ticket online through an online authorized ticket broker and have them delivered at your doorstep. While shopping for the tickets online, you can learn all about your favorite team as most of the sites have detailed history. Have a look at the roster and see where the Pistons would be playing next.

Betting On The Tigers This Weekend Gets Tricky!
Wasn’t it me that predicted that Twins manager Ron Gardenhire would be the first baseball manager to be shown the door in 2006? Yes I also think that Barry Bonds is being unfairly accused of using performance enhancing drugs? No Gardenhire is doing just fine these days as he and his troops prepare for a crucial three game set in the Twin Cities tonight.
Minnesota (59-41) has won 34 of 42 since June 8 to cut what was an 11-game deficit in the wild card to a half-game.
“We’re just playing really good baseball,” said manager Ron Gardenhire, whose team was 25-33 nearly seven weeks ago. “People keep talking about the streak we’re on, but streaks don’t last two months or a month and a half.”
The Twins caught the struggling Chicago White Sox, who have led the wild-card race for most of the season, by completing a three-game sweep with a 7-4 victory Wednesday. Minnesota and Chicago are right behind the New York Yankees, who open a three-game home set against Tampa Bay on Friday night.
The Tigers under veteran skipper Jim Leyland have maintained their composure and now must deal with the newest phenom in the American League and that would be none other then rookie pitcher Francisco Liariano. The Twins look to keep rolling Friday behind Liriano (12-2, 1.93 ERA), who pitched poorly against the Tigers in two relief outings this season, allowing seven runs and 11 hits in 3 2-3 innings for a 17.18 ERA.
Since being moved into the rotation, though, the rookie left-hander has become a leading contender for the CY Young Award, going 11-2 with a 1.59 ERA in 13 starts. Minnesota is 2-7 this season against Detroit and has been outscored 64-25. In a three-game sweep from April 28-30 at Comerica Park, the Twins were outscored 33-1. The Tigers (68-33) have the best record in the major leagues, and their 30-13 mark against divisional opponents is also tops in baseball. Detroit leads the AL Central by 8 1/2 games over Minnesota and Chicago.
The question mark for all contending teams is the starting pitching and the Tigers send a struggling Zach Miner to the hill tonight. Miner has lasted only 6 2-3 combined innings and given up 10 earned runs in losing both of his starts since the break. In his first seven starts after being recalled in early June, the right-hander was 6-1 with a 2.57 ERA and didn’t allow more than three runs in a game.
Detroit gave Miner a five-run lead after one inning Saturday against Oakland, but he surrendered five runs in the top of the second and was pulled after a season-low 2 1-3 innings of a 9-5 loss.
Detroit has lost 9 of the past 12 in Minnesota and will be a dog tonight!

Top Three R. Kelly Albums
12 Play 4th Quarter
The album that never was. When “12 Play 4th Quarter” leaked well before its intended release date R. Kelly decided to scrap the project and go into the studio to record new tracks that would make up his “Untitled” release. It was a shame because “4th Quarter” was one of R. Kelly’s most concise, fluid and best releases since his original “12 Play.” With no guests at all, “4th Quarter” was a slow, hazy walk through R. Kelly’s always libidinous mind, filtered through his newfound love of auto-tune. The album flowed like an old-school R&B record and was not crowded with filler and guests spots like many hip-hop and R&B albums today. A few of the tracks from “4th Quarter” made their way onto “Untitled” but some of the best tracks “Playas Get Lonely” and “Skin” never made the cut.
Happy People/U Saved Me
After the huge comeback success of “Chocolate Factory” and the hit “Iginition (Remix)” it looked like R. Kelly’s legal troubles were doing nothing to slow down his creative output, especially when the double album of “Happy People/U Saved Me” came out only a year later. Criticized upon its release as R. Kelly trying to look penitent amidst his legal troubles, “Happy People” is a track dedicated to Kelly’s favorite dancing past-time of “stepping”, an upscale Chicago-bred style of slow to mid-tempo dancing. “U Saved Me” is an album of religious gospel music that focused on surrender to the Lord, faith and prayer. Obviously this was not the R. Kelly fans were used to and the album did not sell nearly as well as his other releases. Sadly many missed out on some of the most fun and creative music R. Kelly has ever made. Hopefully in the future people will see it as the unconventional classic that it is.
Double Up
A ridiculous, bloated, hilarious album, “Double Up” found R. Kelly mixing rap-guesting club jams (“Get Dirty”, “I’m a Flirt”) with weird, metaphor-laced love tracks (“The Zoo”, “Sweet Tooth”) with his always amusing story songs (“Same Girl”, “Best Friend”) into a 17-track long album that flowed surprisingly well and with little filler material. Few artists can pull of a record as fun and varied as R. Kelly did on “Double Up.” The only misstep is the Kid Rock guesting “Rock Star” which found Kelly jumping on the already played out rap-rock hybrid. There is something for everyone on “Double Up” from tracks about riding around in your tricked out Benz with custom Mercedes Benz parts to late-night lover jams to borderline silly tracks about checking your messages the day after a night on the town.
Alan Lomax is a freelance writer who wants to take a picture outside R. Kelly’s mansion in Chicago.
