Where Do the Candidates Stand on Crime Prevention?

It is the American dream. To buy a beautiful house with the white picket fence, and raise a family in a safe neighborhood, where crime is almost nonexistent was reality for many families of generations past but unfortunately has become wishful thinking in the 21st century.

With the recent murders of singer/actress Jennifer Hudson’s mother and brother in their Chicago home, Americans have once again come to the sad realization that no one is above tragedy and anyone could become the next victim of a violent crime. In many presidential elections, the issues that candidates often stress are those on a national level such as the economy or national security. But what would the presidential candidates do to address crime prevention and assist state and local law enforcement officials in making American streets a safer place to live?

According to Barack Obama’s official website, he and running mate Joe Biden would fully fund the COPS program to put 50,000 police officers on American streets and also address the issue of police brutality that is so prevalent in communities of color. As a result of understaffing at many police departments, the Democratic ticket will also encourage more young people to enter the field of law enforcement.

Republican John McCain also supports federally funding state and local law enforcement agencies but believes rampant earmarking of federal funds to the local level has reduced funding to those jurisdictions that are in most need. According to his official website, “John McCain will restore credibility to these grant programs by ensuring funding is based on need and provided to the most worthy jurisdictions based on a peer-review of grant applications.”

Both McCain and Obama also support reducing crime recidivism by enacting programs that help former inmates readapt to society. According to BarackObama.com, “Obama and Biden will create a prison-to-work incentive program, modeled on the successful Welfare-to-Work Partnership and work to reform correctional systems to break down barriers for ex-offenders to find employment.”

Consequently, McCain supported the Second Chance Act, which will provide up to $360 million for reentry services from 2009-2010. The Second Chance Act funds many faith-based programs that help former prisoners transition back into mainstream society by providing job training, counseling and mentors. Many of these programs have reported reducing recidivism rates by 50 percent. According to JohnMcCain.com, the annual cost of incarcerating a prisoner is more than $20,000.

Obama plans to address crime prevention in many cities by respecting the Second Amendment rights of gun owners but at the same time keeping guns away from helpless children. According to his website, “(Obama and Biden) support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent; as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not our streets.”

The Democrats also wants to see an end to racial profiling, as Obama passed a law in his home state that required the Illinois Department of Transportation to record the ethnicities, gender and age of all drivers stopped.

The Harlem Globetrotters Tickets

The Harlem Globetrotters is an exposition basketball team that fuses athleticism and comedy. In 1926, it was instigated by Abe Saperstein in Chicago, Illinois, and the team adopted the name Harlem because of its association as a major African-American community. Over the passage of time, they have played more than 20,000 exhibition games in 118 countries. The team’s signature song is Brother Bones’ whistled version of “Sweet Georgia Brown” and Globie has remained to be their mascot since 1993.

There is no apparent accord indicating the very beginnings of the Globetrotters. The official history comprises of several details which are evidently fictitious, such as the team being organized in 1926 in the Savoy Ballroom, which opened in 1927. What is clear is that the origin of the Globetrotters takes place in the South Side of Chicago in the 1920s, where all the original players grew up. Most of the original players, not necesairly all, have attended Wendell Phillips High School. That fall, numerous players led by Tommy Brookins formed a team called the “Globe Trotters” which would tour southern Illinois that winter. Abe Saperstein became involved with the team, although to indistinguishable extent. In any event, by 1929 Saperstein was touring Illinois and Iowa with his basketball team, namely the “New York Harlem Globe Trotters”. Saperstein decided to choose Harlem as their home city given that Harlem was well thought to be the center of African-American culture at the moment in time, and an out of town team name would give the team more of an air of mystery and secrecy. After four decades of subsistence, the Globetrotters played their first “home” game in Harlem in 1968.

Progressively The Globetrotters presented comic routines into their act in anticipation of them becoming more famous for the purpose of entertainment rather than sports. On January 5, 1971 they lost in Martin, Tennessee in overtime to the New Jersey Reds; the 100-99 score ended an alleged 2,495-game winning streak (which meant that the Globetrotters were playing 277 games per year up until that date).

Over and above to their hundreds of exhibition games, the Globetrotters have faced some competitive action since the mid-1990s. On September 12, 1995, they lost 9185 to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s All Star Team in Vienna, Austria ending a suspected run of 8,829 straight victories in going back to 1971 (despite the fact that 8,829 games in twenty-four years would mean the Globetrotters were playing nearly 368 games per yearor more than one game a day, every day, for twenty four years). The 48-year-old Abdul-Jabbar scored 34 points. The Globetrotters won the other 10 games throughout that European tour.

A shot documentary was also shot on former Globetrotter Mel Davis, which was directed by his son, Hubert Davis. This film was nominated for an Academy Award for Documentary Short Subject in 2006.

A competitor on the April 6, 2007, episode of the NBC game show Identity correctly identified “Stranger” #12 as being Eugene Edgerson.

The Harlem Globetrotters have made manifold appearances on the animated show Futurama. These episodes feature fictional Globetrotters like Ethan “Bubblegum” Tate (played by Phil LaMarr). In the 31st century, it gives the impression that the Globetrotters have a planet all their own, and in the episode “Time Keeps on Slippin’”, the Globetrotter Homeworld challenges Earth to a basketball game (for absolutely no stakes beyond the shame of defeat). At a certain point in the episode, “Bubblegum” declares everyone in Farnsworth’s Smell-o-scope room (the Professor, Amy, Zoidberg, and Hermes) an honorary Globetrotter. The Globetrotters appear again in Bender’s Big Score, who help out Professor Farnsworth in figuring out the technicalities of Paradox-free Time Travel.

An episode of All in the Family had Lionel Jefferson agreeing with Archie Bunker that racial quotas and affirmative action are not a good idea and making a comment “because 88% of Americans are White, what if there was a law saying the Harlem Globetrotters were forced to have 88% of their team have White players?” Archie makes an expression maybe that idea could mean something.

A 1991 episode of Saturday Night Live presented a satire reconciliation of sports with “The First Black Harlem Globetrotter”. Michael Jordan plays a fictional player called “Sweet River Banes”, who apparently is the first black member of the Globetrotters in the 1920s.

The Harlem Globetrotters appeared briefly in the Simpsons episode namely “Homie the Clown” in which Krusty the Clown idiotically bets all his profits from opening a clown college in opposition to the Globetrotters stating that he “thought the Generals were due.”

The Harlem Globetrotters have also made an outstanding appearance in a special Scooby Doo episode called “Scooby Doo meets the Harlem Globetrotters”. In addition, The Globetrotters also appeared in a commercial persuading benevolent support for the Disabled American Veterans where they are shooting baskets with disabled veterans who are playing wheelchair basketball.

Washington Wizards Team

The Washington Wizards is a professional National Basketball Association team situated in Washington, D.C. it is one of the seven teams that area member of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association. It was established initially as the Chicago Packers, and later played as Chicago Zephyrs Baltimore Bullets and the Washington Bullets before they reanmed themselves the Wizards. They play in the MCI Center wearing red, white and blue colored uniforms. To date the Washington Wizards have won only one NBA championship whereas they have bagged a total of four Conference titles and seven Division titles.
They made their debut as the Chicago Packers in 1961-62 season. They changed their name to the Zephyrs in the following season. In 1963 it was relocated to Baltimore where it was renamed the Baltimore Bullets. During their first year they ranked fourth in the 5 member Western Division. They debuted in NBA in the 1961-62 season with the identity of the Chicago Packers and won eighteen games their very first season. The renamed themselves the Zephyrs for a short while but switched to being called the Bullets after their relocation to Baltimore.
During late seventies, in 1978 to be precise the Bullets not only made it to the playoffs but also managed to defeat the Atlanta Hawks, the San Antonio Spurs and the Philadelphia 76ers and advanced to the Finals. But unfortunately they were pitted against the Seattle SuperSonics in the finals and were defeated by them. They fell three games behind and managed to win only two. But they made a surprise comeback towards the end and won the seven-game series and successfully captured the NBA title.
Later in the mid of nineties they successfully made two acquisitions which proved beneficial for the team collectively. They acquired Chris Webber and Juwan Howard who were ex university team mates in University and had led their university into a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship game. In May of 1997, the Bullets renamed themselves officially and also changed their logo. In 1999, former player Michael Jordan was appointed the president for the Washington Wizards’ basketball operations. September of 2001 saw the comeback of Chicago Jordan in the age of late thirties. 
 They maintained their players for most part of the 2006-07 season and only lost Jarvis Hayes, Calvin Booth and Michael Ruffin. They signed player Oleksiy Pecherov in result of a first-round pick in 2006 and players Nick Young and Dominic McGuire in 2007 picks. Their player Thomas was unable to make it to the regular season owing to an open heart surgery. They had several other changes in the team in context to their logos and uniform. They alternated the recently introduced gold and black uniform. Job Losses Tell Us It’s Going to Get Worse

There is one overriding message from the jobs bloodbath of this week.

That is: this slowdown is going to be long, hard and tough and things are going to worsen.

Indeed US brokers Merrill Lynch now says it thinks estimates for 2009 profits for US companies are still too generous, that earnings are going to be lower.

Brokers already believe that December 2008 quarter earnings will be down 28%, so Merrill Lynch’s warning should be seen as a pointer to the future.

Anyone thinking it’s going to be a quick exit/rebound later this year, or even in 2010, had better think again.

The 100,000 job cuts that echoed around the world on Monday came from retailing, cars, heavy manufacturing, light manufacturing, technology, finance, insurance, technology and more.

On top of the cuts from the likes of BHP Billiton the week before, Intel and Microsoft, the trail of losses is mounting rapidly, day by day as employers, who have tried to keep staff on for as long as possible, are forced by plunging profits, to chop and chop deeply.

Companies reported badly damaged 4th quarter earnings in the US and Europe and used these profit slumps as the basis for the jobs cuts: Texas Instruments, Caterpillar and ING for example (it was bailed out by the Dutch government for a second time with a deal to takeover dodgy real estate assets and keep lending to the economy).

The IMF saw the US economy contracting 1.6% this year, with the euro zone shrinking 2% and Japan 2.6%. Media reports said the Fund, later this week, would reveal world growth for this year 0.5% at best. Next year an optimistic 3%.

Overnight the Japanese economy okayed a modest stimulus package of about $US75 billion and the German Cabinet signed off on a 50 billion euro package. The UK Government revealed a $US4 billion-plus assistance package for its car industry.

The aim of these packages is to try and slow the downturn and keep as many people as possible in jobs.

Companies in the US and Europe chopped more than 90,000 jobs Monday that also saw the Iceland government collapse, General Motors chop more factories as sales slump, and America’s second biggest cardboard processor collapse with $US5.6 billion in debts.

Around 80 000 jobs were cut in the US, the rest in Europe.

The survey found that companies will lay off more workers and hoard more cash in the next 12 months. A large majority of the 105 economists polled believe the country’s gross domestic product will continue to sink in 2009.

Respondents to the survey were getting more pessimistic about the macroeconomic outlook. “78% of respondents expect U.S. real GDP to be lower in 2009 than in 2008.”

“NABE’s January 2009 Industry Survey depicts the worst business conditions since the survey began in 1982, confirming that the U.S. recession deepened in the fourth quarter of 2008,” said Sara Johnson, a NABE economist.

Nearly half (47%) of surveyed economists said overall industry demand was falling, compared with 35% who said so in the October survey.

“Just 10% of respondents said profit margins were rising, compared with 52% who believe they are falling. And 38% of economists said capital expenses are falling, up from just 15% in October.

“Over half expect real GDP to fall by more than one percent this year, and only three percent project growth of over one percent.

“Falling profit margins outnumbered rising margins five-to-one among respondents’ firms—the worst reading since 1982.

“Job losses accelerated in the fourth quarter, and the employment outlook for the next six months has weakened further.

“With market prospects deteriorating, firms slammed the brakes on capital spending in the fourth quarter of 2008; the percentage of firms reducing capital expenditures (38%) was the highest in the history of the survey.”

The survey found that a majority of those replying said credit conditions hurt businesses, as customers had less leverage to buy discretionary products. 78% of respondents said tightening credit conditions affected customers, and 52% said the credit crunch directly hurt businesses in their industries.

Rapidly deteriorating global market conditions are hammering business profits.

“For the fourth consecutive quarter, reports of falling profit margins (52% of respondents) outnumbered reports of rising margins (10%). This was the worst result since the spring of 1982.

Job losses accelerated in the fourth quarter, producing the worst survey result in 17 years. Some 44% of firms cut payrolls, while only 14% added workers.
 
“Looking ahead, 39% of companies plan to reduce payrolls over the next six months, while 17% plan to increase employment. Only the services sector continues to create jobs.”

If anything, that explains why so many big and small companies are now cutting jobs, more than a year after the US economy officially slipped into this recession. Business conditions have become so fraught, thanks to the credit crunch and drought, that they have no alternative.

With US first time jobless claims running at more than half a million a week for the past two months, there’s no let up in the flow of bad news for US workers, and increasingly employees in Europe and Japan.

US unemployment looks certain to surge from the December level of 7.2%, even as thousands of workers stop actively searching for the few jobs that are there.

But there was some rare good news from the battered US housing sector with the National Association of Realtors reporting a 6.5% rise in the number of pre-owned houses sold in December: 4.74 million unit annual rate. Economists had expected a 4.40 million unit pace.

The US Conference Board said its index of leading economic indicators rose 0.3%: economists had expected a fall of the same size.

However, the realtors’ report also had the now familiar bad news with the median national home price in the US down 15.3% in December from the same month of 2007, the largest fall on record.

The financial crisis claimed Iceland’s Prime Minister Geir Haarde who announced the resignation of his government after months of protests over economic policies that brought the country close to bankruptcy.

A coalition of Green and leftwing parties is expected to win the election later this year, which could provoke tensions between the country, the banks and the IMF. The Social Democrats will form a new Government in the meantime.

But Canada will spend $US5.7 billion on infrastructure over the next two years and officials said Canada will run budget deficits totalling $US53 billion over the next two years.

And the Norwegian government presented a $US2.87 billion fiscal stimulus package to prevent a surge in unemployment. It is dipping into its state-owned wealth fund to help bolster spending, as is Singapore.

But it was the toll of job losses that staggered observers: construction equipment giant Caterpillar axed 20,000 places worldwide to cope with plunging sales. Its big Japanese rival, Komatsu warned of a 15% drop in sales and a 42% plunge in profit in the year to March 31.

New York-based drug maker Pfizer announced it would acquire its rival Wyeth for $US68 billion ($A104 billion), and then announced it would chop the combined workforces of the two companies by 19,000, or 15%, and its own global workforce by 10%, or 8,000 jobs. It’s halving dividend to help finance this big deal. Investment banks will carve up $US207 million from this mega-merger.

Texas Instruments reported a big fall in 4th quarter profits, and plans to shed up to 3,400 jobs. And still in technology, an American union reckons IBM, which last week reported better than expected 4th quarter profits, is readying itself to chop at least 2500 jobs soon. .

General Motors dropped an extra 2000 jobs at two US plants as it continues restructuring. US telecom operator Sprint Nextel said it would cut 8000 jobs, or 14% of its staff, and top US home improvement retailer Home Depot is culling 7000 employees across America.

The big Dutch financial services group, ING, has obtained more help from its government to stay alive and is sacking thousands of people, as is the huge Philips lighting and technology group.

All up, ING and Philips are shedding around 13,000 people from their businesses worldwide to try and cut costs as sales and demand slump faster than expected.

And Corus, the big Anglo-Dutch steelmaker is cutting 3,500 jobs around the world, some 2,000 of them in Britain, due to a sharp fall in demand for steel.

The company is Europe’s second-largest steelmaker now owned by the Indian company, Tata which is struggling to keep Jaguar Landrover alive in Britain..

Another major US company has collapsed: the Smufit-Stone Container Corp, a cardboard packaging giant and one of the world’s largest paper recyclers, has gone bust in the US with $US5.6 billion in debt. It was unable to service amid a slumping economy and demand for its products.

The company, which is based in the US but was founded in Ireland, filed for Chapter 11 protection in the US: besides the $US5.6 billion in debt the company had $US7.5 billion in assets. 24 subsidiaries or affiliates also sought protection. It had net sales of $US7.4 billion in 2007.(Source)

Smurfit-Stone, based in Chicago is North America’s second- largest maker of corrugated packaging, and has 22,000 employees in the US, Canada, Mexico and Asia.

In Britain two retail chains selling shoes went bust overnight and their listed owner, Stylo, was suspended from trading.

Barratts Shoes and PriceLess became the latest British chains to go into administration, putting the jobs of around 5,00 people at risk. The 400 stores in the two chains will remain open for now.

They join fashion chains, Dolcis, Stead & Simpson and Faith which have all gone into administration. Woolworths has closed, at a loss of 30,000 jobs and the home improvement group, MFI has failed. The UK children’s retailer, Adams has shut, while furniture retailer, Land of Leather is a failure.

And a sure sign of the damage the credit crunch is doing to business can be seen from the 72% plunge in 4th quarter operating earnings for American Express.

The credit card giant said quarterly profit from continuing operations hit $US238 million, down from $US858 million in the same quarter of 2007 (Source).

American Express received a $US3.4 billion from the US Treasury’s bank bailout fund earlier this month as surging consumer defaults forced it to set aside more reserves and the market for bonds backed by credit-card debt froze.

The company has chopped 7,000 jobs, frozen management salaries and cut other costs to try and save $US1.8 billion a year. For the year earnings fell 32% to $US2.8 billion.

Dennis Keith Rodman is a retired American professional basketball player. He is one of the controversial NBA basketball players in America. Born on May 13, 1961 in Trenton, New Jersey, he played for San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and Detroit prisons. The Dennis Rodman Biography/History is popular to many Americans because he is one of the best NBA players. Dennis made a name for himself through his astonishing talent, tattoos, body piercing and dye colors on his hair.

Nicknamed “the worm” and “Dennis the Menace”, he was recognized for his ferocious rebounding and defensive ability. He was a leader of the National Basketball Association for seven successive years. Rodman is instantly identifiable because of his many controversial actions such as dyeing his hair, several piercing, having an affair with singers Carmen Electra and Madonna that led him to court. Dennis Rodman’s early prominence with teams like Detroit Pistons led him to fame with both the Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls. As his wild behavior and frantic moves started drawing attention to the outside world, he started a career with the World Championship Wrestling.

He played at power forward, which is a physical position in the game for many years. He was considered the top defender in his time along with Scottie Pippen, Gray Payton and Michael Jordan. In 1986, the Detroit Pistons noticed him and drafted him in the second round. In 1989, Rodman was recognized and named the Defensive Player of the year due to his good skill in basketball. He helped the Pistons defeat the young Chicago Bulls for the second time making them NBA champions. In 1990, the Pistons defeated the Bulls winning the second straight championship. Rodman also won the Defensive Player of the year honors.

In 1991, the Bulls in the Eastern Conference finals swept the Pistons. The Pistons rebound Dennis Rodman and got on the lead. However, Rodman raised his level of playing and in 1992; he was extraordinary, with an average of over 18 rebounds, as he became a winner of the first of seven direct rebounding titles. In 1993, Rodman had a second rebound, which was also the last with the Pistons. He joined the San Antonio Spurs during the off-season. In San Antonio, Rodman continued with his expertise and made many more great scores. The following season, he spearheaded 62 wins for San Antonio making it to the western conference finals. However, his publicized relationship with Madonna was too much for the Spurs to bear. In the offseason, he joined the Bulls. With Rodman aboard, the Bulls improved on 25 games. The team also had Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan and the three formed an all-defensive first team.

After the season with the Bulls, he left Chicago and started rebuilding himself. Being the best NBA rebounder, without doubt he made a name for himself. Everywhere, in the aftermath of 9/11 waves of shock, grief, fear, and anxiety reverberated not just through New York and Washington but throughout the United States . Due to the unpredictability and massive scale of the violence of terrorism, the trauma symptoms it causes travel well.
Among majority of Arabs and Muslims,  Unfortunately,  911 was privately applauded. For a simple reason, the slogans of freedom, economy and politics were attacked. That was unbelievable event in modern times. While doubt remains about inside helping hand, the success brought world attention, a proverb says in Arabic: (the mosquito can make the lion’s eye bloody.) Islam is a slogan, cannot be destroyed or demolished easily as a reaction for 911. Unless justice prevails. And Islam has to be respected. The millions of faithful, do not apprehend this wave against Islam from some intellectuals who had certain purposes to achieve in the western world. Some of them may be sincere to change wrongs committed against Muslims and Arabs in recent years. The new Muslim generations have to be given the benefits of doubt to be protecting human rights on mutual respect, when people loose their dignity, beware of their offspring.            

What was amazing that after the pope speech. Something startling happened. Thousands of knights swear that they see the clouds part and an image of the Holy City appear in the sky. They fall to their knees in wonder, knowing the certain that God wills the Crusade. And the waves of Crusade began. 

Was it true? Sins of nobles and knights will be forgiven?  Who played the role of God in that time to grant such forgiveness? He was the pope Urban II. This is not strange, because Compared with Khumeini  of Iran who played the same role in 1980. as the pope, by making fatwa for martyrs young people in the fight with Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. Paradise was guaranteed according to Khumeini.

Returning to the book title: People are no idiots, of course. They know the Crusade was  a war between Christians and Muslims for control of the Holy Land. However, these bloody conflicts raged over centuries, under changing circumstances, making the whole story difficult to follow.

You don’t have to don armor and cross deserts to relieve the Crusades!  Dr. Wood’s book is interesting, he  explained what were the crusade, the Crusades and the Jews, The Crusades in Jerusalem, the religious-military Orders, the Economic interests, then Saladin and Richard (The Lion Heart), plus many interesting historical facts. Moreover [God] himself said: ‘The day will yet dawn when my children will come and avenge my blood.’ We are his children and it is our task to carry out his vengeance upon you, for you showed yourselves obstinate and blasphemous towards him … [God] has abandoned you and has turned his radiance towards us and has made us his own.” (p70)

The President of Sudan, Omer al-Bashir  Was Arrested Last night. Believe it or NOT!

I woke up this morning to read this:  President of Sudan Omar al-Bashir plane was high jacked by mysterious forces and directed to undisclosed place in the Mediterranean to be handed to the ICC court.” End of the News.

First I did not believe the news, it may be another propaganda, so I opened the TV on al-Jazeera, the news are right, the president of Sudan was kidnapped.  I di not believe that,  so  I switched the news to the CNN, the same incident is announced but with more flavors of justice and arrogance.  The president Omer al-Bashir of Sudan was high jacked while he was in his trip to Qatar, to attend the Arab Summit. When I heard the news, my reaction as intellectual was a million questions pops-up in my mind other than : Who did it? And How it was done? Which I believe are urgent to know, but it is not important to know who and How, but to know what the reaction and the consequences worldwide would be? I mean locally, regionally, and globally!

In the last few months the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir for war crimes in Darfur, a decision that could spark more regional turmoil. The warrant is the first issued against a sitting head of state by the Hague-based ICC, which stopped short of including a count of genocide over a conflict that United Nations officials say has killed as many as 300,000 people since 2003. This was the main accusation, without saying what type of weapons used, or from what resources, or who brought the accusations in the first place, and why Sudan? And why Omar al-Bashir himself? Not those who execute the alleged terrorist actions?

China does not need now to urge suspension of Sudanese president ‘s arrest warrant.  Omar al-Bashir finally caught by justice. What would be the reaction?  And what level of discussion might take place? Is it at the one state level, such as the Sudanese, the Qataris, the Saudis, China, France, the USA, and Israel level?   Or the regional level, such as the Middle East,  Arab countries, Muslim countries,  European level?  Or the level of analysis would be on organizational level, the ICC, the OIC, the AU, the EU, the NATO, the UN level? Or on the religious level as crusades and Islamists, and Jewish faiths ? or the Muslim Brothers level. Or the ideological level, the communist or the capitalist level? Or scientific and logical level, where assumptions are not true unless proved true. This is a hypothetical article by the way. But the scenarios will clear for al-Jazeerah, BBC, and CNN. 

The ICC may thank countries party to the Rome Statute that set up the court and United Nations member nations for their support in the arrest. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton may tell  reporters: I said it before, “Governments and individuals who either conduct or condone atrocities of any kind, as we have seen year after year in Sudan, have to be held accountable.” Therefore she may say:  “I am personally and officially, pleased with the arrest.”

Expected posters for comments will say: Sudan is only being targeted because it is a poor, African state. US & UK invaded Iraq (and are still there now), Israel has been committing crimes for the whole of it’s existence, yet these countries appear to be immune. Until the ICC is impartial for all, I understand the Sudanese government’s (or another country) reluctance to acknowledge it. Other extremists may suggest and may call for violence and say: “Arab Gulf Boys should stop this Moreno Ocampo defile the name of Sudan again!” Others may say: The world has failed Sudan – especially people of Darfur! The arrest of Bashir will be a belated wake-up signal to all despots that the world does not condone genocide. To do nothing would be a sign that the world approves of the well documented murderous campaigns of ethnic cleansing

The GCC includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will comment: On Sudan the GCC statement lauded Qatari effort in bringing the warring Darfuri parties to the negotiation table expressing hope that it will be the beginning of political efforts to end the crisis. But now the efforts should be doubled after the arrest.

Khartoum and Darfur Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) signed a declaration of goodwill expressing their willingness to engage in peace process, three years following the rebel group’s rejection of the Abuja deal in May 2006. But now the circumstances have changed.

The GCC still insist on its statement, which omitted any reference to an imminent decision by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on a war crimes case against president Omer Hassan Al-Bashir.

China, the African Union and the Arab League suggested an indictment could destabilize the region, worsen the Darfur conflict and threaten a troubled peace deal between north Sudan and the semi-autonomous south — potentially rich in oil.
And what about the demonstrations against the high jacking of a legitimate president against the well of his people? Demonstrations will be seen in south East Asia communities after Jum’a prayer, Some human NGO human rights activists may call the incident as an attack on human rights of the president of Sudan.  And call for consensus on the warrant arrest to be lawful. One might say: the damage as a consequence of the arrest is much more than the warrant. I will leave the rest of the  specialist or propagandists comments for the news channels: al-Jazeerah, BBC, and CNN.  

Now,  it is too late, to postpone or even to discard the warrant arrest. President of Sudan, Omer al-Bashir is in the hands of the COURT now? So the most urgent question would be: What are the Consequences of such act might be locally, regionally, and globally? This article will only try to give scenarios for the consequences.

On the local level: Rumors will fill the media east and west about certain involvement of three forces may be involved in the high jacking operation.  One is NATO, the other is Israel, and the third is everyone else [various inside and outside  enemies] . So some minority groups in Sudan will be under attack if their government was involved. Demonstrations will fill the Sudanese streets. The Parliament of Sudan will convene to decide actions diplomatically and otherwise. The most happy person may be, will be Hasan al-Turabi and his party, some people think! But he will not be invited to rule Sudan, because global powers may stand against his appeal too! The act of arrest itself does not respect the Sudanese autonomy or independence.  Or respect Arabs or Muslims.  Others will say, it is a conspiracy against Islam.  Other will find something to play with in the following days. As a result, some neighbors of Sudan [may be innocent civilians will be hurt] will be hurt for emotional actions, and may be more Red Cross Aid Organizations will be kicked out of Sudan without mercy by suspicion.  The problem would be for Sudan NOW, is to find replacement for the president.   Whether it was a propaganda as some like to believe and publicized or a real accusation, is no more the question now? What are the hidden goals behind the warrant arrest are also irrelevant? The bird is finally  in the cage of the ICC now is a fact.

What is expected then if the news were true then? On the Saudi Level, the government will be disturbed by the news, and will send messages to deny air piracy as it did against sea piracy.  It will support any action taken in Qatar Summit. Furthermore, it may call for the OIC summit to discuss the arrest and how to face such illegal action.

Qatar will say that they cannot secure the President safety outside its borders, so it is not her fault, but it will call for the already convened Arab Summit,  to take decisions concerning the kidnapping of the president of Sudan.  Their decision will not change any thing,  But Arabs existed or not, in the world arena, their decisions are useless. Or not respected as they hope.  One of the decisions is to send a message to the ICC to have mercy on the accused and to the UN, to let the Security Council  convene to discuss the matter.  Arab Leaders will act as pigeons for peace,  otherwise they will be accused as their Sudanese brethren , because the ICC decisions are not jokes. It is a damn reality, so beware Arab Leaders, some thing is prepared for any one who may disunite his goals with global powers.

Israel will deny any involvement in the high jacking but support the ICC decision to arrest the leader of Sudan.  No one will believe Israel anyway! The Muslim OIC organization will imitate Qatar’s message to the UN And will show that it was disturbed by the arrest. I think The Family of the President will be the most disturbed by kidnapping the president for sure, but what can they do? Expected commenting on the arrest will fill the internet sites, the newspapers,  and a debate will be in high steam between supporters of the kidnapping and rejecters of such piracy. 

What would be the reaction if the  arrest  happened?  On the regional and Global levels is to be heard and may be watched.  I will leave the answer for the news channels to deal with. We are waiting! Don’t you! (1626 words)
